END OF SUMMER COSTA BRAVA AND BARCELONA FESTIVAL TOUR.

SEPTEMBER 5
Arrival in Barcelona and Welcome Dinner

Transfer from Barcelona airport to your hotel in the city center.

Afternoon walking tour of the surrounding area.

Welcome dinner.

 

SEPTEMBER 6
Barcelona City Center and Panoramic Tour

Breakfast at hotel.

Start the day with a visit to Barcelona’s old city, including the Gothic Quarter, the Cathedral, the Roman Temple and the old Jewish Quarter.

Grab a bite to eat for lunch in a traditional Catalan restaurant.

In the afternoon, we’ll visit Montjuic Mountain and take a cable car ride up to the Castle for a panoramic view over the city to end the day.

Optional Tapas Tour in Barcelona for dinner.

 

SEPTEMBER 7
Penedès Wine and Cava Country

Breakfast at hotel.

Visit to the vineyards of the Penedès wine region, including a visit and tasting of a gourmet cava maker and a walk through the vineyards of an organic winery.

Enjoy a gourmet picnic lunch next to the vineyards with wine.

8:00pm – 1:00am Optional nighttime visit to Sant Sadurní for dinner and a chance to witness a unique celebration, the “Fil.loxera Festival”, which starts at 10:00 at night and fills the streets of the town.

 

SEPTEMBER 8
Morning at leisure in Barcelona and Afternoon Barcelona Modernista Tour

Breakfast at hotel.

Optional morning tour to Montserrat Mountain, cultural and spiritual home of Catalonia for over 1000 years. We will visit the Monastery with the famous Moreneta statue, and walk the path down to the cave where the statue was found in the year 880AD.

Optional cooking class in Barcelona, where you will learn how to cook an authentic paella from a professional chef right in the heart of the city.

Afternoon Modernista guided tour, including Antoni Gaudi’s masterpiece, the Sagrada Familia, and the impressive Park Güell.

 

SEPTEMBER 9
The Costa Brava and a Castle Visit

Breakfast at hotel.

Today we head up to the Costa Brava, stopping along the way to visit an 11th century castle that was rebuilt by one of the Modernista master architects. Afterwards we continue on to the Costa Brava, avoiding the touristy towns and heading to some of the best examples of the fishing villages along the rocky coastline.

After lunch take a boat ride along the Costa before getting picked up and heading back to Barcelona.

 

SEPTEMBER 10
Girona and the Volcanic Region

Breakfast at hotel.

Venture inland to the volcanic region of La Garrotxa to visit one of the great medieval towns tucked into the dormant volcanic landscape. Enjoy a walk around the town before heading over to Girona, a former Roman town flanked by 3 rivers.

After a bite to eat upon arrival, explore the city with your tour leader. Girona is home to one of the best examples of a medieval Jewish Quarter in Spain, and the Cathedral, old city walls and winding streets are a treasure to explore.

 

SEPTEMBER 11
Barcelona’s Big Festival and Farewell Dinner

Breakfast at hotel.

Today is one of the most important dates for the city of Barcelona, as Catalonia celebrates its National Day. There will be activities all day, and we will be glad to guide you to the most interesting things to do, such as a visit to the Parliament building or the history museum as well as the traditions and street celebrations that will be going on.

In the evening we will have our farewell dinner.

 

SEPTEMBER 12
Transfer to airport for your return flight to the USA.
