CADIZ DAY TOURS
CADIZ WALKING TOUR (5 hours)
Cadiz will surprise you. It is one of the Andalusian cities that most gets passed over by visitors and yet it is undoubtedly one of the great treasures of the region. Cadiz is one of the oldest cities in the western world. Founded by the Phoenicians (approximately 1100BC) under the name “Gadir”, it was a fishing community that became one of the most important trading posts for later civilizations including the Carthaginians, Romans, Visigoths and Moors. It became known as the “Tacita de Plata” (the Silver City) although nobody is quite sure of the origins of the name. There are some who claim it is because of the magnificent contrast of colors of the intense, bright blue of the sea and the white buildings that makes the city shine like no other.
Join us and we will explain the history and curiosities that the city hides: of pirates, Columbus’ link to the city, stories of conquests and conquistadores… and we will also show you some of the most precious spots, combining a panoramic tour of the city with a walking tour in which, among other things, you will discover:
