Some of the highlights of this tour include:
- The medieval town of Durango. A stroll around the historic center of Durango, a National monument since 1997, will help us discover a medieval village that is more than 700 years old. The route takes us to beautiful buildings and palaces, including the enigmantic and unusual figures of the Lariz Tower, the Basilica of Santa Maria de Uríbarri and the Arch of Santa Ana Square, a Baroque-style construction which is the only remaining feature from the original town wall. While there, don’t miss the chance to see the Cross of Kurutziaga, a late Gothic masterpiece whose origins are still unknown.
- Afterwards take a guided tour of the Urkiola Natural Park while we explain the legends of “Mari”, the central deity in Basque mythology, who lives in the nearby peak of the Anboto Mountain.
- Don’t miss the Sanctuary of the Saint Anthonys of Urkiola, one of the attempts of the Christian re-conquest to eradicate the presence of the pagan beliefs in the area.
