Bilbao: The artistic side of Bizcaia

The Santimamiñe cave was discovered in 1916 and features almost 50 cave paintings which have been dated at about 14,000 years old. We will enjoy a guided tour of the cave and these paintings and then head over to the nearby Oma Forest, the so-called “magic forest”. This enchanted forest is a wonderful place where the artist Agusin Ibarrola created a new way of linking nature and art. The artist painted the trees and the rocks in his effort to unite the work of the Paleolithic artists with the world of modern art through the idea of land art, using the land itself as his canvas.
