Bilbao: Gernika-Lumo up to the Bizcaian coast

The Urdaibai region is most well-known for its status as a Biosphere Reservation, which it was awarded in 1984. The Oka River’s estuary, as well as its natural richness offers some of the most famous sites in the whole region. The route begins with a visit to Gernika-Lumo, where you will discover the Casa de Juntas, where the Bizkaia government met, the famous Oak tree and the Peace Museum which has a special focus on the bombing of the town during the civil war. Then we continue up the coast to Bermeo, a traditional fishing village, before finishing the day with a spectacular panoramic view of the cliffs from the hermitage of Sant Juan de Gaztelugatxe.
